This program was named in honor of Louis E. Ingelhart. Students in the Ball State University Department of Journalism can find his photo on the third floor in one of the glass displays and in the conference room. Known as an authority on the First Amendment, this leader was a great influence for many students on the BSU campus. Ingelhart taught at BSU from 1953 to 1992, was the BSU Department of Journalism's first chair and fought for student press rights on a national scale.
